natural leaf shadowbox displays
While he was in his engineering/consulting career, Booker did woodturning as a hobby. Looking for a way to differentiate his work from others, he saw some work by the famous British natural artist, Andy Goldsworthy. Andy had stitched together a rough-edged square of real leaves, and in the center drew a circle. Every leaf and part of leaf inside the circle had been skeletonized, and Booker was struck by the beautiful patterns the leaf veins made. After a lot of thought, Booker began learning how to skeletonize the leaves until he found the etching process that he now uses. This craft has been a full time career for Booker for the past 19 years.
